xTOPAZ explained

xTOPAZ is a transferable share token backed by TOPAZ inside an aggregate permanent veTOPAZ lock on BNB Chain. It connects the BNB token economy to local liquidity and voting on other Topaz networks.

Live on five networks. Get xTOPAZ on BNB, bridge it to Robinhood Chain, Base, Ethereum or Arc, and stake to vote for local pools. Entry, redemption, bridging and local voting are enabled, subject to current contract conditions. Start at the xTOPAZ overview. Network availability · Contract addresses.

TOPAZ, veTOPAZ and xTOPAZ

Asset or positionWhat it representsHow it participatesExit
TOPAZThe BNB protocol tokenCan be locked as veTOPAZ or deposited for xTOPAZLiquid token, subject to market liquidity
veTOPAZAn individual BNB lock NFTOwner chooses BNB gauge votes; eligible locks also participate in protocol governanceUnderlying TOPAZ withdrawable after a decaying lock expires
Liquid xTOPAZShares in the vault's permanent BNB lockShares in backing growth; can be transferred or bridgedRedeem on BNB for a new permanent veTOPAZ NFT when permitted
Staked xTOPAZA local spoke voting position holding xTOPAZVotes for that spoke's gauges and claims local fees and incentivesWithdraw xTOPAZ after the position's date and voting gates permit

An xTOPAZ stake is not a veTOPAZ NFT or an LP position. Merely holding liquid xTOPAZ does not cast local gauge votes or earn local voter fees.

What backs a share

The vault records TOPAZ assets through its aggregate veTOPAZ lock and shares through the canonical xTOPAZ total supply:

assets per share = locked TOPAZ in the aggregate / canonical xTOPAZ supply
shares received = floor(TOPAZ deposited × total shares / total assets)
TOPAZ represented = floor(xTOPAZ shares × total assets / total shares)

The initial seed creates a one-to-one accounting rate. Later, one xTOPAZ can represent more than one locked TOPAZ. Deposits use the current rate; they do not always mint one xTOPAZ per TOPAZ. Integer rounding favors the vault, and an irredeemable seed remains to keep it initialized.

The backing rate is not a USD price or a promise that a market will buy xTOPAZ at that value. A redemption returns locked TOPAZ in an NFT, not liquid TOPAZ or a stablecoin.

How backing grows

Settled rebases add TOPAZ to the aggregate without adding shares. The portion of system-gauge emissions not assigned to spokes is also locked without matching shares. Both can increase TOPAZ represented by each xTOPAZ, including shares on spokes.

Your liquid xTOPAZ balance does not rebase upward. The assets behind each share change. Read the emissions guide for the difference between backing growth and the xTOPAZ paid to spoke LPs.

What wrapping changes

Wrapping merges an eligible veTOPAZ NFT into the aggregate and burns the original NFT. You receive shares and give up that NFT's individual BNB gauge allocation. The aggregate votes through a system-gauge strategy. Existing pool fees and incentives must be accounted for before the NFT is burned; read Get xTOPAZ before choosing this route.

An ordinary managed lock or relay keeps a different custody and reward model. xTOPAZ is not a renamed relay, and its aggregate is a normal permanent lock rather than a managed veNFT. Managed Locks.

Participation on a spoke

On Robinhood Chain, Base, Ethereum or Arc, bridge liquid shares to the network and stake them in its voting vault. Each position has its own amount, allocation and withdrawal date. Voting weight equals the staked share amount; the backing exchange rate is not multiplied into it. Local voter rewards are the pool's fees and incentive tokens. Local LP gauge emissions are xTOPAZ.

Understand the commitment

The backing stays permanently locked unless shares are redeemed into a new permanent NFT. Converting that returned NFT to a decaying lock starts the ordinary maximum-duration countdown under BNB lock rules; bridging back does not bypass it. Vault pauses, an active system vote, split permissions, bridge capacity and delivery can affect when a journey completes. Redemption · Security & Audits.
