Private Swaps

Recovery & Refunds

Your funds are never stuck permanently. If a swap stalls or fails, there are two ways to get your money back, and the app walks you through both.

Recovery happens on the dedicated site
Fund recovery lives only on privacy.topazdex.com — even for swaps you started from the Swap → Private toggle in the main app at app.topazdex.com. Reconnect the wallet that made the swap there to recover.

Recover funds

The privacy route uses temporary, behind-the-scenes accounts that only youcontrol. If a swap doesn't complete, any funds sitting in those accounts can be swept back to your wallet.

  • Go to privacy.topazdex.com/recover (or click Recover funds from your order history).
  • You usually don't need the recovery phrase. The recovery key is derived from your own wallet — just reconnect the original wallet and re-sign, and Topaz reproduces the key, scans BNB Chain and Avalanche for any stranded funds, and sweeps them back to you.
  • The recovery phrase is your guaranteed fallback. If you can't use the original wallet, the recovery phrase you saved at quote time recovers the same funds. This is why we ask you to save it.

Refunds

If your deposit was received but the swap couldn't be completed, you may be eligible for an on-chain refund. The app checks eligibility automatically and, if you qualify, builds a refund transaction for you to approve from your wallet.

Topaz never stores your recovery phrase
It's shown to you and saved only in your own browser. Treat it like a seed phrase — anyone with it can move funds from the temporary recovery accounts.

Why this always works

The temporary routing accounts are derived deterministically from your wallet. That means the key to them can always be reproduced — either from the wallet itself or from the recovery phrase you saved — so stranded funds can always be swept back. Recoverability isn't a support process; it's a property of how the protocol is built.
